At the end of November, the 668th Alteration and Installation Squadron (ALIS) engaged in an annual training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, Texas. The training provided ALIS members with the opportunity to gather in one location and spend time developing critical skills necessary to being mission ready Airmen. The overall mission of the 668 ALIS is to deploy, train, and maintain specialized forces for the global implementation of communications infrastructure and sensitive compartmented information facility (SCIF) construction, supporting national operations. During the multi-disciplinary training, Airmen had the chance to tune-up skills they don't often utilize in their day-to-day operations, like donning MOPP 4 alongside CBRN specialists and navigating EOH lanes alongside the 902 CES. Airmen also practiced cable splicing, securely packing and shipping materials, operating a forklift, and other basic CE skills.

At the end of November 2024, the 668th Alteration and Installation Squadron engaged in an annual training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, Texas. The training provided ALIS members with the opportunity to gather in one location and spend time developing critical skills necessary to being mission-ready Airmen.

The overall mission of the 668 ALIS is to deploy, train, and maintain specialized forces for the global implementation of communications infrastructure and sensitive compartmented information facility (SCIF) construction, supporting national operations.

During the multi-disciplinary training, Airmen had the chance to tune up skills they don’t often utilize in their day-to-day operations, like donning MOPP 4 alongside CBRN specialists and navigating EOH lanes alongside the 902d Civil Engineer Squadron. Airmen also practiced cable splicing, securely packing and shipping materials, operating a forklift, and other basic CE skills.

The ALIS is a selectively manned unit responsible for engineering, constructing, and installing both information systems and sensitive compartmented facilities around the world. The unit is primarily composed of civil engineer, communications, and logistics competencies spread across 22 diverse specialties. They are part of the 543rd Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance Group at JBSA-Lackland.

The 668th ALIS is comprised of more than 150 Total Force Airmen who specialize in logistics, communication, and civil engineering and is the only organization in the Air Force tasked with engineering, constructing, and installing information systems throughout Sensitive Compartment Information Facilities, or SCIFs. The Roadrunners, described as the Air Force’s experts in SCIFs, provide the Sixteenth Air Force (Air Forces Cyber) with an array of logistics, communications and civil engineering services.
